WILD LIFE.
The bison grazing
in front of the Gallatin Range
are not worried
for one second about their
investments or net worth,
and the sages explain
that many times
we can learn from the animals
in terms of simplicity and gravity,
if we have eyes to see
their lack of consternation
and commitment to being
here for what they are here to do,
and not much else.
There is a sweet spot
of human striving and acceptance
of how small we are
and how short of a time we are here.
It makes me want to
tread lightly through my day
and enjoy the ordinary
while celebrating the wonder
of wide open spaces
and thin places where God’s face
is never shown
but you can catch the tail of his robe.
If you have a minute
to watch the wildlife,
reflect on existence
and resistance to mother culture.
We are another to everyone else
and unified all at once,
presence and awareness
attached to divinity.
We are eyes of God
in National Parks or on Wall Street,
wherever you choose to roam,
make the most of wild life.
